Sona masoori rice is medium grain rice, grown largely in the Indian states of Andra Pradesh and Karnataka. It is lightweight, aromatic and contains less starch so is easily digestible.
Cooking Instructions: For best results, wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes.
For cooking, add 1 1/2 times water to the quantity of rice.
Cooking on the hob from ambient. The mixture of water and rice should be boiled in a heavy based pan and then cooked for 10 minutes, covered, on a low heat. Turn off the heat and leave the pan to stand, covered, for a further 5 minutes.
Microwave from ambient. Cover the microwaveable bowl with cling film, pierce and cook at the temperature specified for your microwave model. If using a 650W microwave oven, cook on high for 6 minutes. To reheat in the microwave, put on high for 3-4 minutes.
