Heera Sona Masoori Rice

  • Sona masoori rice is medium grain rice, grown largely in the Indian states of Andra Pradesh and Karnataka. It is lightweight, aromatic and contains less starch so is easily digestible.
  • Cooking Instructions: For best results, wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes.
    • For cooking, add 1 1/2 times water to the quantity of rice.
    • Cooking on the hob from ambient. The mixture of water and rice should be boiled in a heavy based pan and then cooked for 10 minutes, covered, on a low heat. Turn off the heat and leave the pan to stand, covered, for a further 5 minutes.
    • Microwave from ambient. Cover the microwaveable bowl with cling film, pierce and cook at the temperature specified for your microwave model. If using a 650W microwave oven, cook on high for 6 minutes. To reheat in the microwave, put on high for 3-4 minutes.
