Recipe by Indian Mart
In a frying pan, heat 2tbsp of oil at medium flame. Stir fry 1/2 cup of urad dal for about 2-3mins or until golden brown.
Add a pinch of hing and 4 medium onions(chopped) into the frying pan. Stir fry the onions until light pink in colour.
Then add 2tsp chopped ginger, 5 slices of garlic, 2 red chillies and tamarind water. Stir fry it for about 3-4 mins.
Turn off the gas and allow it cool down.
Once the mixture cools down, blend it together with the help of a blender. Add salt as per taste and water if required. Once all the ingredients have blend together transfer it to a bowl.
Heat the oil in a frying pan at medium flame. Once oil in hot enough, add mustard seeds and 1 dry red chilli. Fry it for about a min or two. Pour it over the chutney and mix well.
Onion Chutney is ready to serve. You can serve it with dosa or idli.
